General Travel Information
Travel Options for flights
Very Important Issue. Please make sure you book your travel to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The airport code is YYT. Do not book your travel to St. John, New Brunswick. It is in another province, more than 1000 km away. The airport code (the wrong one) is YSJ.
Being a rather small city, St. John’s does not have a lot of direct flights from major cities outside of Canada, so be prepared for at least one connection. Some flights are seasonal flights, so keep checking flight possibilities, e.g. on the website of St. John’s International Airport Authority (https://stjohnsairport.com)
The most common connections are through Halifax (YHZ), Montréal (YUL) or Toronto (YYZ). There are several flights daily from these cities operated by Air Canada (Star Alliance) and Porter Airlines.
St. John’s is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and unreliable forecasts, so keep in mind that weather-related delays are not uncommon.
